Sandra Yuen MacKay

Sandra Yuen MacKay is a pseudonym for Sandra MacKay. She includes her maiden name Yuen to recognize her Chinese heritage. She is not only a published writer, but also a visual artist and a speaker on recovery from mental illness. She has a Fine Arts Diploma from Langara College and BA in art history from the University of British Columbia. She received a government scholarship and four Gee How Oak Tin scholarships. She has published over thirty articles, poems and stories in Front Magazine, The Bulletin, The Prairie Journal and other print publications. Her memoir My Schizophrenic Life: The Road to Recovery from Mental Illness was released in September 2010. She’s honed her craft mostly through writers’ forums and continuing education courses.

She resides in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia. When she’s not writing or painting, she enjoys movies, walks, swimming and having coffee with friends. She believes “life is what you make of it.”
